Newt Gingrich: Joe Biden’s 4th of July Video ‘Most Anti-American’ Speech by Presidential Candidate — Ever

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich panned former Vice President Joe Biden’s short speech on the Fourth of July, saying it “may be the most anti-American speech ever given by an American presidential candidate.”

Biden delivered a short video address on Twitter from his home in Wilmington, Delaware, in which he told Americans that the November election offered “a chance to rip the roots of systemic racism out of this country,” implying the country itself was racist by design.

At Least 70 Shot, 14 Dead by Sunday Night over July 4th Weekend in Chicago

Over 70 people have been shot, at least 14 of them fatally, by Sunday night over the Fourth of July weekend in Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s (D) Chicago.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported that 74 were shot, 14 fatally, by 6:45 p.m. Central Time on July 5, 2020.

The Chicago Tribune reported the numbers as 80 shot, 17 fatally, by 5:29 p.m. July 5.

The fatalities included a seven-year-old Natalia Wallace, who was “shot in the head around 7 p.m. Saturday in the South Austin neighborhood while outside at a family gathering.”

A 14-year-old boy was among four victims fatally shot later Saturday night in Englewood, and their deaths come one weekend after a one-year-old and ten-year-old were shot dead in Lightfoot’s Chicago.

On July 1, 2020, Breitbart News reported that Chicago witnessed a 75 percent increase in shootings the month of June 2020. NBC 5 reported that murder rose in June too, with 78 percent more murders in June 2020 versus June 2019.

The New South Wales-Victoria border will be closed for the first time in 100 years after Victoria recorded 127 new coronavirus cases - its biggest total since the pandemic began.

The decision to shut the border at 11.59pm on Tuesday was agreed by both premiers and the Prime Minister in a three-way phone call this morning.

The hard border will be enforced by New South Wales Police to keep Victorian officers free to battle the state's outbreak.

Statue of Frederick Douglass Torn Down in Rochester

A statue of abolitionist legend Frederick Douglass was torn down overnight over the Fourth of July holiday in Rochester, New York, local media reported.

WXXI News reported:

Rochester Police are investigating damage done to a statue of Frederick Douglass in Maplewood Park. It happened over the weekend, and police say that the statue was torn off its base, and left about 50 feet from its pedestal. The statue had been placed over the fence to Genesee River gorge and was leaning against the fence.

Police say in addition to the damage at the bottom of the statue, one of the fingers on the left hand of the statue was damaged. Aside from that damage, there was no graffiti on the statue or in the surrounding park. The statue has been removed for repairs.

WXXI adds that the statue was “one of 13 Douglass statues that were placed around Rochester in 2018 in honor of his 200th birthday.”

In 2018, one of the statues was vandalized by two teenagers, who said they were drunk when they did it and had no political motive, though one eyewitness disagreed.

Frederick Douglass was born into slavery and escaped to the North. He was a passionate abolitionist, at home and abroad, and befriended President Abraham Lincoln.

In recent years, Black Lives Matter activists have been fond of quoting a speech in which Douglass called the Fourth of July a “sham” because of slavery. However, in the remainder of the speech, Douglass praises America’s founding and its principles.

No motive has yet been reported in the removal of the statue. Rochester Police were not available for comment.

“Pharma Bro” Martin Shkreli has endorsed Kanye West’s 2020 presidential election bid.

In an email to the Gateway Pundit from the federal prison where he is serving his seven year sentence for securities fraud, Shkreli wrote “Yeezy for President,” and that he’s “got my endorsement and vote.”

“I am available for treasury secretary or federal reserve chairman. I could immediately balance the budget and restore sanity to the American balance sheet, replete with debt and runaway spending,” Shkreli wrote.

West announced that he is running on Twitter during the Fourth of July.

“We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States,” West wrote, along with an American flag emoji and the hashtag #2020Vision.

Telsa and Space X CEO Elon Musk has also offered his full support to the rapper, tweeting at him following the announcement saying, “you have my full support!”

The infamous figure was dubbed “Pharma Bro” after hiking the price of an outdated drug to try to raise money for new research. The drug was still provided to those whose insurance wouldn’t cover it for free or at a low cost. Shkreli was convicted in 2017 in an unrelated securities fraud case.
