I think we can assume that every time we see a story like this, it is a direct result of the gigantic EncroChat hack and operation following it that has been going on for probably at least two years.
The more I read about the EncroPhone bust and the size of the law enforcement actions worldwide following the infiltration of that network, the more I think EncroPhones picked up exactly where the Awan BlackBerries of 5-10 years ago left off.
Gut feel is that that story was so big that Ghislaine's arrest was intended to be a distraction for it.
