I read the book the Fountain Society by Wes Craven years ago. Now I may reread it.
It is about a scientist who clones other elite scientist. When the ti the older scientist get old and near death, their brains are removed and put in their much younger clones…thus they are familiar with their new bodies and have another life time to live and develop their smarts.
