Well there's the sour grapes. Her father crumbled while POTUS crystalized into diamond. I bet Fred Jr was a very liberal parent. I've seen this dynamic play out in my own family, the strong sibling has resilient kids while the weak one's kids fall apart in their teen years. But I don't know Mary's whole story, so speculation on my part.
