This caught my eye a couple of days ago & I’ve been trying to ask for a dig on this airport HQZ Mesquite Metro Airport (bread 12630#9869074). One anon surmised this flight (SAM976) might be a transport for GWB – but this is miles away with at least four closer airports to his home.
There seems to be NO military facilities in close proximity, although Raytheon has a plant 10 miles away (with a closer airport in Rockwall TX). What’s odd is that this isn’t an isolated incident (see below) and nothing remarkable about the airport. There’s a aerial photographer & a Civil Air Patrol office, furniture warehouse…
HOWEVER, adjacent to the airport is a large firearms facility – training, gun range, Custom Manufacturing shop! My suspicion is this may have something to do with those 10,800 AR-15 full-auto conversion kits bound for Melbourne, FL being intercepted by CBP in Louisville, KY.
