Phenom l discovered in my very educated, Masters degree, black friends.

Black population has been 12-13% for decades. Ask a black person what percent of U.S. population are black and they will tell you about 40%.

When you tell them the truth , they lump all colors together and say they were right.

This makes a difference when they conjur up blacks are not employed in professional jobs, or politics or any other complaint about not enough black people representing.

Anyone with half vision can see we have more than 13% representation of blacks in every sector of education, employment, politics, etc.

Not having a clear picture of their actual population perpetuates a sense of unfairness concerning their skin color, of which they have no say.

I think it festers into other discontent which is unfair to all the population.

Unfortunately the Percent of foreign born are Now higher than black citizens. Also note many census charts are skewed by adding u.s. territories who are in generally people of color. This chart does not.
