On April 4 2018, Alexi and Steve Conine hosted a cocktail party for the annual Moondance Gala at their Back Bay home. Along with Jill and Niraj Shah, the Conines will serve as co-chairs of this year’ Moondance Gala which is set to be held Saturday, September 15, 2018, on the banks of the Charles River. With the theme, “It’s not easy being green,” gala will remind guests of both the whimsy of children playing on the Esplanade and the serious work it takes to keep the park thriving. As the only tented black-tie event held on the Esplanade, this beautiful evening brings together the Boston community and beyond to celebrate this treasured park and lend support to the Esplanade Association’s continued growth and vibrant future. Cocktail party guests included Becky Kidder Smith, Allison Gordon, Esplanade Association’s Executive Director Michael Nichols, as well as Jeryl and Steve Oristaglio.

On this day the Moon was in a Full Moon phase. During a Full Moon the moon is 100% illuminated as seen from Earth and is on the opposite side of the Earth from the Sun. The Moon will be visible throughout the night sky rising at sunset in the east and setting with the sunrise the next morning. The point at which a Full Moon occurs can be measured down to a fraction of a second. The time it takes between full moons is known as a Synodic month and is 29.530587981 days long.

Moondance (lyrics)

by Van Morrison

Well, it's a marvelous night for a moondance

With the stars up above in your eyes

A fantabulous night to make romance

'Neath the cover of October skies

And all the leaves on the trees are falling

To the sound of the breezes that blow

And I'm trying to please to the calling

Of your heart-strings that play soft and low

And all the night's magic seems to whisper and hush

And all the soft moonlight seems to shine in your blush

Can I just have one more moondance with you, my love

Can I just make some more romance with you, my love

Well, I want to make love to you tonight

I can't wait 'til the morning has come

And I know now the time is just right

And straight into my arms you will run

And when you come my heart will be waiting

To make sure that you're never alone

There and then all my dreams will come true, dear

There and then I will make you my own

And every time I touch you, you just tremble inside

And I know how much you want me that you can't hide

Can I just have one more moondance with you, my love

Can I just make some more romance with you, my love

Well, it's a marvelous night for a moondance

With the stars up above in your eyes

A fantabulous night to make romance

'Neath the cover of October skies

And all the leaves on the trees are falling

To the sound of the breezes that blow

And I'm trying to please to the calling

Of your heart-strings that play soft and low

And all the night's magic seems to whisper and hush

And all the soft moonlight seems to shine in your blush

Can I just have one more moondance with you, my love

Can I just make some more romance with you, my love

One more moondance with you in the moonlight

On a magic night

La, la, la, la in the moonlight

On a magic night

Can't I just have one more dance with you my love
