Steven ConineCo-Founder, Director (Co-Chairman)

Steve Conine co-founded Wayfair with Niraj Shah in 2002. He currently leads development of the architecting and software systems that give Wayfair a technological edge in the online retail business. Prior to that, Steve was a co-founder, board member and Chief Technology Officer of Simplify Mobile. Before starting Simplify Mobile, he served as Chief Operating Officer for the London office of iXL, a publicly traded global technology consulting firm. Steve also previously co-founded and served as a top executive of Spinners Incorporated, an IT services firm, which was sold to iXL in 1998. Steve is also on the board of CarGurus, Inc. Steve holds a B.S. in engineering from Cornell University, and lives in Boston, Massachusetts with his wife and three children.

 

Julie Bradley-Director

Julie Bradley has served as a member of our board of directors since September 2012. Ms. Bradley was the Chief Financial Officer of TripAdvisor, Inc., an online travel planning site, from October 2011 to November 2015. She previously served as the Chief Financial Officer of Art Technology Group, Inc., an e-commerce software company, from 2005 to 2011, the Vice President of Finance for Akamai Technologies, Inc. from 2000 to 2005 and an accountant at Deloitte & Touche LLP from 1993 to 2000. Ms. Bradley has served on the board of directors of Blue Apron, Inc. since September 2015, and previously served on the boards of Constant Contact, Inc. from June 2015 to February 2016 and ExactTarget, Inc. from September 2012 to July 2013. Ms. Bradley received a B.A. from Wheaton College.

 

Michael Choe-Director

Michael Choe has served as a member of our board of directors since May 2020. Mr. Choe has served as the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Charlesbank Capital Partners, an investment management firm managing over $6 billion of capital, since July 2017. Mr. Choe joined Harvard Private Capital Group, the predecessor to Charlesbank, in 1997, and was appointed as Managing Director in 2006 and President in 2014. Prior to that Mr. Choe was with McKinsey & Company, where he focused on corporate strategy work. Mr. Choe serves on the boards of several private companies. Mr. Choe holds a BA in biology from Harvard University.

 

Andrea Jung-Director

Andrea Jung has served as a member of our board of directors since May 2018. Ms. Jung has served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Grameen America LLC, a nonprofit microfinance organization, since April 2014, where she also serves on the Board of Directors. Ms. Jung previously served as Executive Chairman of Avon Products, Inc., a personal care products company, from April 2012 to December 2012, and as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Avon from September 2001 to April 2012. Ms. Jung served as Chief Executive Officer of Avon from November 1999 to April 2012, and served as a member of the Board of Directors of Avon from January 1998 to December 2012. Ms. Jung has served on the board of directors of Apple Inc. since January 2008 and Unilever PLC and Unilever N.V. since May 2018, and previously served on the boards of General Electric Company from July 1998 to March 2018 and Daimler AG from April 2013 to April 2018. Ms. Jung is a graduate of Princeton University.

 

Michael Kumin-Director

Michael Kumin has served as a member of our board of directors since June 2011. Mr. Kumin has worked as an investment professional at Great Hill Partners, a private equity investment firm, since 2002 where he currently serves as a Managing Partner. Mr. Kumin has served on the board of directors of Yoga Works, Inc. since July 2014 and The RealReal since May 2017. Mr. Kumin also serves on the board of directors of several private companies. Mr. Kumin received a B.A. from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public & International Affairs.

Jeffrey Naylor-Director

Jeffrey Naylor has served as a member of our board of directors since January 2018. Mr. Naylor has served as Managing Director of Topaz Consulting, LLC, a financial consulting firm, since he founded the company in April 2014. Mr. Naylor previously served as a senior executive with The TJX Companies, Inc., including as Chief Financial Officer from 2004 to 2006; as Chief Financial and Administrative Officer from 2006 to 2007; as Chief Administrative and Business Development Officer from 2007 to 2009; as Chief Financial and Administrative Officer from February 2009 to January 2012; as Chief Administrative Officer from January 2012 to February 2013; and as Senior Corporate Advisor from February 2013 to April 2014. Prior to joining TJX, Mr. Naylor served asChief Financial Officer of Big Lots, Inc. from 2001 to 2004 and Chief Financial and Administrative Officer of Dade Behring, Inc. from 2000 to 2001. Mr. Naylor has served on the board of directors of Synchrony Financial since July 2014, Emerald Expositions since September 2013, and Dollar Tree, Inc. since March 2018. Mr. Naylor also serves on the board of directors of a private company. Mr. Naylor received a B.A. from Northwestern University and an M.B.A. from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.

 

Anke Schäferkordt-Director

Anke Schäferkordt has served as a member of our board of directors since September 2019. Ms. Schäferkordt previously served as the Chief Executive Officer of RTL Television and Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland GmbH from 2005 to 2018 and the Co-Chief Executive Officer of RTL Group S.A. from 2012 to 2017. Ms. Schäferkordt was a member of the Executive Board of Bertelsmann SE & Co. KGaA from 2012 to 2018 and she currently serves as a member of the Serviceplan Group SE & Co. KG Supervisory Board and as a member of the BASF SE Supervisory Board. Ms. Schäferkordt is a graduate of Paderborn University.

Matthew Prince co-founded Cloudflare along with Michelle Zatlyn, and Lee Holloway, a company that provides Internet security, content delivery network services, DDoS mitigation, and distributed domain name server services in the United States in 2009. They launched Cloudflare during the TechCrunch Disrupt conference in September 2010. The company received media attention in June 2011, after providing security to LulzSec’s website. Cloudflare partnered with different web hosts in June 2012, including HostPapa, to perform its “Railgun” technology. In February 2014, Cloudflare mitigated the DDoS attack, the largest-ever recorded at that time, which peaked at 400 Gbit/s against an undisclosed customer. In November 2014, Cloudflare informed another massive DDoS attack and targeted independent media sites at 500 Gbit/s.

Funding Rounds

In a Series A round, Cloudflare secured $2.1 million led by Venrock and Pelion Venture Partners on November 25, 2009. In a Series B round, Cloudflare grew $20 million led by New Enterprise Associates on July 12, 2011, with the participation from existing investors Pelion Venture Partners and Venrock. In association with the funding, Scott Sandell, General Partner with NEA, joined Cloudflare’s Board of Directors. In a Series C round, Cloudflare grew Cloudflare secured $50 million led by Union Square Ventures on December 17, 2012, with existing investors Pelion Venture Partners, Venrock, New Enterprise Associates, and Greenspring Associates has also participated in this round. Since the 2011 funding, Cloudflare has increased its user base to 1.5 million users, accounting for 5 percent of web requests across the internet. In a Series D round, Cloudflare grew Cloudflare raised $110 million led by Fidelity on December 20, 2014, with the participation from existing investors Pelion Venture Partners, Venrock, New Enterprise Associates, Greenspring Associates, and Union Square Ventures, and new investors like Qualcomm Ventures, Microsoft Accelerator, CapitalG, and Baidu.

 

In a Series E round, Cloudflare grew Cloudflare raised $150 million led by Franklin Templeton Investments on March 12, 2019, with the participation from Pelion Venture Partners, Venrock, New Enterprise Associates, Greenspring Associates, Union Square Ventures, Qualcomm Ventures, Microsoft Accelerator, CapitalG, Baidu, and Fidelity. The company also announced that Stan Meresman, former CFO of Silicon Graphics and Maria Eitel, founder and co-chair of the Nike Foundation has appointed to its board of directors. Cloudflare has raised more than $330 million from investors the existing investors. The latest funding will be used to support Cloudflare’s growth, extend product ranges, and continue its international expansion into new markets.
