Back with an update from UK thread re digg on London NSA Traffic Cam/ Corinthia Hotel pics.
We have been really trying to nail down a date for those pics. One of our anons found that a traffic bollard pictured in the Corinthia Hotel pics was the subject of a fatal traffic accident in the first week of March 2014. Anon posted news story, pic of memorial flowers left at scene, pic of new collapsible bollard and a coroner’s report on the incident. This put a bookend on that whole series of pics. This set us to start looking at Winter 2013/2014 as our timeframe. We noticed the temporary moorings for the restaurant ship RS HISPANIOLA indicated a quite high tide. We can find no other open source pics of her at higher tide. But now, how to date the NSA Traffic Cam pics? Well, we obtained the tide gauge recordings for the Thames River from the London Port Authority for 2013/2014. From the tides we isolated the high tides occurring at night and “after hours” for the restaurants. Both ships appear dark compared with many nighttime pics of them during operating hours. We found what appears to be the Moon rising behind LONDON EYE. We agreed that the Moon appears to be in a particular phase of the Moon called “Waning Gibbous”. Most people are only able to discern lunar changes with the naked eye to around 15 hours.
So now we are looking at 5 particular months, and a portion of 15 hours within each of those months. We used a free program that allows you to search dates back in time to see what the lunar phases looked like. We intend to use those best matches to compare with the recorded tide data we got from London Port Authority.
WHAT DO WE KNOW?
NSA ROT1 shows a HIGH TIDE.
The Q pic is before March 6, 2014 due to traffic accident.
The weather is cold. People with coats on.
Sometime from Oct2013 to March 6, 2014.
The Moon is in a “waning gibbous” phase.
The March traffic accident excludes the waning gibbous Moon from our consideration.
Now we have 5 months, with about 15 hours within each one if those months (that’s 75 hours) to search using our newly obtained Thames tide data. Got it a week ago.
Our Moon appears in the South London sky at a bearing of SSE.
Preliminary views by a Stellarium fag in our group show, yes, the Moon is there in the Southeast. October 23, 2013 and January 2014 are close suspects. Will show pic related. We are trying to find best march at being relatively low in the sky and near SSE.
