America is worth saving. So many people have been trying to convince us that it's not. That it's evil enough that it needs to be torn down.
I don't believe that. I'm not a world traveler, but I've been all over America and lived in so many places. I've met so many disparate and wonderful people from Texas and California and Utah and Oregon and Maryland and Maine and Hawaii and New York and Illinois and Minnesota and Colorado and New Mexico and Arizona and Michigan and every Indian reservation throughout them all. I've seen the Grand Canyon, the beautiful snowfalls in the high mountain desert, the great plains, the badlands, the icy lakes and rivers, the beaches and the Pacific Ocean and the one gigantic stretch of road connecting all of it, dotted throughout with all these hospitality towns and little stops full of such different people all speaking the same language across an whole continent. I've stomped around NYC, LA, Vegas, all these amazing cities and felt so at home in all of them even when people had different accents or did things differently, and every city I've lived in has changed me or added something to me somehow.
I've seen such incredible decency and generosity and kindness. Strangers have saved me or helped me along more times than I could ever count. The cops have never done anything except help me or laugh and let me go. So many people have just given me free shit or free passage or free entry or just paid for my stuff and asked nothing in return. I've never felt truly unsafe even in the supposed ghettos, and I've only ever made friends in every place I've been. People have let me into their homes and treated me like family everywhere.
I have so many dear friends scattered across this entire country and some part of my heart will always be everywhere I've set foot on this continent, my whole life long.
YOU WILL NEVER CONVINCE ME THAT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE EVIL. I HAVE LOVED THEM TOO DEARLY AND THEY HAVE LOVED ME TOO WELL FOR ME TO EVER BELIEVE THAT. I FUCKING LOVE THEM AND I WOULD KILL OR DIE TO PROTECT THIS PLACE.IT IS WORTH IT.
WE WILL NOT BE TORN APART. WE WILL NOT BE DIVIDED.
YOU CAN NEVER DEMORALIZE US BECAUSE AMERICA IS WHAT AMERICA IS IN HER HEART. WE WILL CONQUER YOU. PULL OUT EVERY STOP AND WE WILL CONQUER YOU.
