Yet another instance of a viral “hate crime” being exposed as a hoax.

Student Isaih Martin, who openly advocates for Black Lives Matter on his Twitter account, posted pictures to the social platform in June showing three notes on his car’s windshield; one reading “All Lives Matter,” one reading “you don’t belong here,” and the third containing a racial slur. “I hate it here. Y’all still don’t think A&M is racist? #RacismAtTAMUFeelsLike,” Martin captioned the tweet, which rapidly went viral and accrued tens of thousands of retweets. The official Texas A&M University Twitter account was quick to respond to Martin’s tweet with an apology: “Isaih, we are very sorry that this happened to you."

Police closed the case after reviewing surveillance footage that indicated the culprit responsible was none other than Martin himself.

The child was arrested after he sent a Instagram message to a black football star, saying “you better not score tomorrow you black cunt” along with images of the Ku Klux Klan.

The police have now tweeted: “The 12-year-old from #Solihull has been taken to custody. Thanks to everyone who raised it. Racism won’t be tolerated.”

Respondents on Twitter offered a different perspective. “You’ve arrested 12 year old for an offensive tweet. Impressive. Good to know resources are being directed appropriately,” remarked one person. “43k extremists on the MI5 terrorist watch list walking around free, but a 12yo has been arrested so we can all sleep safe,” commented another.

In the age of mass public shaming and online hate mobs, the power dynamic of a 12-year-old boy being up against the might of law enforcement, a multi-billion dollar industry, and the condemnation of the mass media is not even considered for a second.
