Oh, a stitch in time

Just about saved me

From going through the same old moves

And this cat is nine

He still suffers

He's going through the same old grooves

But that stone just keeps on rolling

Bringing me some real bad news

Takers get the honey

Givers sing the blues

US gives China the advantage in next-generation nuclear technology

China is building a massive nuclear energy program that will ultimately enable the Communist regime to power a nuclear navy to take on America’s fleet worldwide.

Just as US politicians and businesses allowed the nation to become dependent on China for pharmaceuticals, electronics, and strategic minerals, they are helping Beijing to make America dependent on advanced nuclear technology. This can stop with a simple act of Congress that is unusually united against the Xi Jinping regime.

Surrendering an American innovation to Beijing

Short-sighted legacy programs that began under the Clinton administration, continued through George W. Bush and accelerated under Obama, persist under the Trump administration to give Beijing a decisive advantage.

Zogby: Biden’s ‘dismal’ support from blacks threatens his election

Former Vice President Joe Biden’s “dismal” support from black voters, now confirmed in two polls, is likely to force his campaign to choose a black woman as his running mate to shore up the key group, according to a Democratic pollster.

In the latest John Zogby Strategies and EMI Research Solutions poll, Biden has the support of 77% of black voters while 14% back President Trump.

GOP officials have told Secrets that if Trump maintains that level of support from blacks people, he will win reelection. South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, a black Republican, said in February, “Game over if we get 14.”

In the last 20 years, only George W. Bush, running for reelection in 2004 against then Sen. John Kerry, came close with 11% of the black vote. In 2016, against Hillary Clinton, Trump won 8% of the black vote.

Since his election, he saw black employment surge and black unemployment hit a new low before the coronavirus crisis. Trump has also featured black voices in his administration at events and endorsed key initiatives supported by African Americans, including criminal justice reform.

Good Riddance to the World Health Organization

A tearful Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on Thursday pleaded for international cooperation in the fight against the coronavirus. "The COVID-19 pandemic is a test of global solidarity and global leadership," said the director-general of the World Health Organization (WHO). "The virus thrives on division, but is thwarted when we unite."

At the same time, Tedros publicly thanked Helen Clark, former prime minister of New Zealand, and Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, former president Liberia, for agreeing to serve as co-chairs of the Independent Panel for Pandemic Preparedness and Response.

It is no surprise the embattled Tedros has been active in recent days. He has, after all, begun what is a long-term campaign to keep his organization going. The Trump administration gave formal notice to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Monday that the United States was withdrawing from the WHO. The withdrawal is scheduled to take effect July 6, 2021.

The withdrawal may never happen, however: Tedros is not the only party mobilizing to prevent the WHO's biggest contributor from leaving. Joe Biden, sitting on a long lead in the polls, tweeted he will reverse the withdrawal "on my first day as President."

Navy: 57 treated for injuries in USS Bonhomme Richard fire as blaze continues

Thirty-four sailors and 23 civilians have been treated for minor injuries, including heat exhaustion and smoke inhalation, from the fire aboard the San Diego-based amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard which began Sunday morning, the Navy said.

Five sailors remain in the hospital and are in stable condition, Naval Surface Forces for the Pacific Fleet tweeted on Monday.

Ten sailors were released from the hospital Sunday night as Navy and federal firefighters worked around the clock to put out the blaze.

It is still unclear what caused the fire, which began in the ship’s lower vehicle storage area around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, said Rear Adm. Philip Sobeck, commander of Expeditionary Strike Group 3.

The 844-foot warship was engulfed in massive pillars of smoke that could be seen throughout the San Diego area on Sunday. Throughout Sunday night and into Monday morning, helicopters from Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron Three dropped buckets of water on the ship.

Containing the fire will be “a long fight," Sobeck said. Still, the admiral stated that the ship could “absolutely” be saved.

Churches and statues vandalized, burnt, attacked across US over weekend

The causes of some fires have yet to be determined, while police say others were arson. A Florida man has been charged with attempted murder.

July 13, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – Several churches and statues across the United States went up in flames or were vandalized over the weekend, including a mission church founded by Saint Junípero Serra just outside of Los Angeles almost 250 years ago.

On Saturday, a 24-year-old man was arrested and charged with attempted murder for setting fire to Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ocala, Florida. He drove his car into the church, and proceeded to light two gallons of gasoline on fire. Parishioners were inside the church preparing for Mass, but were able to flee without injury.

“In an interview with sheriff’s Detective John Lightle, suspect Steven Anthony Shields said he has been diagnosed with schizophrenia and is not taking his medication,” reported a local newspaper.
