When you give up on your biggest supporter, your biggest supporter gives up on you and chooses instead to become a spectator in this hopeless shitshow, all while still hoping that he'll eventually meet the one in the stands.
Even if it never happens, at least he had a good seat and the popcorn was what he paid for: salted and buttered enough to not go back and ask for a refund or redo.
