Curious really, I remember being in Grad school starting in 1996. The internet at that time was mostly text, some html, so more like bulletin board only prettier. Could this be a reason that the internet (didn't exist for many years for military use) finally go civilian?

(I defer to computer anons on that, just a thought)

Operation Cathedral was a multinational operation in 1998 that broke up an elite Child Pornography Internet Ring

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/1167879.stm– interesting that this story in BBC only mentions the "unemployed" guy, the computer consultants, the taxi cab drivers, a computer salesman, and an engineer. only 9 men were charged, weird huh. (smh)

then I came across this. The Wonderland Hotel in the mtns of Tennessee and the Wonderland Club that was established there in 1919. Had it's own railroad depot. Seems like this plays into the previous digs about Vanderbilt Railroad connections with human trafficking maybe???

What was ODD, was didn't MOST people have only dial up in 1998? How were they posting videos for download. Was there much digitized then? I remember mostly VHS around that time.
