20,000 mail-in ballots in NY may be disqualified because of post office overload
A news story came out last week that didn’t get nearly the attention it deserved. The reason is obvious. It highlighted the risks and foible of mail-in balloting as 20,000 New York ballots may get tossed. It wasn’t because the ballots were bad. They weren’t late. The voters who cast the ballots were, we assume, eligible to vote. The reason they may get tossed is because the post offices were so overloaded, 20,000 ballots on election day weren’t properly postmarked.
Lemme guess which party the votes represent…hmmm….

Hedge fund Chatham Asset Management plans to buy newspaper publisher McClatchy out of bankruptcy, ending 163 years of family control.
The companies did not put a price on the deal in an announcement Sunday. The agreement still needs the approval of a bankruptcy judge; a hearing is scheduled for July 24.
McClatchy is one of the largest newspaper companies in the U.S. It owns 30 papers including the Miami Herald, the Charlotte Observer and the Sacramento Bee. It filed for bankruptcy protection because of a heavy debt load stemming from its $4.5 billion purchase of the Knight-Ridder newspaper chain in 2006, just as the newspaper industry went into steep decline.
Chatham was McClatchy’s largest shareholder and debt holder. It beat out a bid from Alden Global Capital, another hedge fund that has taken a leading role in the U.S. newspaper business.
Chatham’s other media holdings include the Canadian newspaper chain Postmedia and National Enquirer publisher American Media Inc. But industry expert Ken Doctor has noted that it doesn’t make financial sense to combine those with McClatchy in order to cut costs, as newspaper dealmakers like to do. And the emergence of Alden Global Capital as a bidder has given rise to speculation that Chatham will try to combine McClatchy with Alden’s holdings or with another big newspaper company, like Gannett.

Far-left New York Governor-King Andrew Cuomo is “too powerful and too feared” to be held accountable, according to Fox News’ Janice Dean.
Mrs. Dean is Fox’s senior meterologist who lost two in-laws to the virus and she blames Cuomo’s terrible policies during the virus crisis. She said she was told privately by reporters and others that he can’t be held to account.
“I have received texts, emails, and DMs from people (some reporters) who say that Cuomo is too powerful and too feared in New York, that he will never be held accountable for his terrible (and deadly) orders during this pandemic – no matter how glaring the evidence…
“You can tell during his interviews and press conferences — his indifference, bully behavior and lack of empathy shows he knows most won’t go after him. But I will keep going against the giant Cuomo machine. Because I have to. I owe it to my family and my husband’s parents.”

"The administration has analysed a sample of over 1 lakh [lakh = 100,000] residents, who were mostly close contacts of positive persons and the effect of HCQ in containing the transmission of the virus. According to the analysis, of the 48,873 close contacts of positive patients who took one dose of HCQ, 102 turned Covid-19 positive and 12 succumbed to the infection whereas 48 of the 17,776 close contacts of positive patients who took two doses of HCQ turned positive and only one died. The study also states that of the 33,563 close contacts of patients who took three HCQ doses, 43 tested positive and one died."
Local health official Dr. Devesh Patel told the paper, “It has shown positive results. We have the numbers and not one person has complained of complications. The only side effect reported is mild gastritis, which is common with administering heavy medicines and can be effectively handled.”
Dr. Mohammad Hussain, who runs Vadodara’s Faith Hospital, told the Express, “There are conflicting studies about the use of HCQ. While initially the US studies rejected it and cited side-effects, European countries backed its prophylactic use. In Vadodara, it has shown positive results. We have been able to restrict cases in clusters. Nagarwada no longer has a huge number of cases.”
Hussain reiterated that no serious side effects were reported.
