ABUSE OF POWER: Oregon Democrat Gov. Kate Brown Extends Lockdown to JULY 6 Despite Ranking 40th on State Coronavirus List

Kate Brown is using the virus as an excuse to clamp down on people in the state who are trying to recall her. By forcing people indoors and preventing gatherings of more than 10 people, she makes it more difficult for people to get out there and exercise their constitutional right of freedom of assembly.

Face coverings will be required outdoors and indoor gatherings limited

Jul 13, 2020

SALEM — Face masks must be worn outdoors when social distancing is not possible and private gatherings must be limited to no more than 10 people, Gov. Kate Brown announced Monday, July 13.

The new rules to fight the COVID-19 pandemic go into effect Wednesday, July 15, expanding the directive last week that face masks be worn at indoor public places.

In keeping with her long-standing policy, Brown said that she was relying on public cooperation rather than any enforcement of the additional rules.

“I am not going to set up the party police,” Brown said.

State health officials have said the growth of virus cases in Oregon in recent weeks has been driven by clusters of social gatherings, often involving people who are under 40 years of age.

Dr. Dean Sidelinger, the state’s top epidemiologist, said at the same press briefing that the state was on pace to triple the number of new daily COVID-19 cases within the next six weeks. That would mean more than 1,000 cases per day by the Labor Day weekend at the beginning of September. Brown’s current emergency order runs out Sept. 4.

The Oregon Health Authority reported 280 new cases of COVID-19 on July 13, bringing the state total to 12,438. Three more deaths were reported — one each in Umatilla, Marion and Clackamas County — bringing the state total to 237 dead from the virus.

Nationwide, about 3,353,500 people in the United States have been infected with the coronavirus and at least 135,100 have died as of July 13, according to a New York Times database. The newspaper said the worldwide count as of July 13 was 12.9 million cases and more than 569,000 deaths.

Brown said she believed most Oregonians were following the face covering, social distancing and enhanced hygiene efforts that health officials advocate. She called those who willingly ignore the efforts “outliers.”

“We are at risk of COVID-19 getting out of control in Oregon,” Brown said. “Each of us needs to take immediate action to slow the spread of this disease.”

The Oregon Liquor Control Commission will continue to inspect businesses and can issue citations. Brown said she did not know how many citations resulted from enforcement efforts over the July 4 weekend, when 800 were inspected for compliance.

Oregon’s actions came as neighboring California stepped up its response to a major spike in COVID-19 cases by reversing many “reopening” measures. Gov. Gavin Newsom announced a renewed ban on indoor dining, closed bars, and entertaiment venues such as museum and zoos. He also ordered 30 counties — including Los Angeles — to close malls, gyms, hair and nail salons and many other businesses. The state has had over 325,000 reported cases of COVID-19 and over 7,000 deaths since the pandemic hit the state at the beginning of the year.

“COVID-19 is not going away any time soon until there is a vaccine or effective therapy,” Newsom said at a press briefing in Sacramento.

The Oregon Health Authority announced two workplace outbreaks involving 20 or more cases. An outbreak of 102 cases has been reported at Snake River Correctional Institution in Malheur County. Shearer’s Foods in Umatilla County reported 20 cases.

Gov. Brown limits personal indoor gatherings to 10 people; mask mandate will expand to outdoors Wednesday

Posted on Jul 13, 2020

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) - Gov. Kate Brown announced Monday two new measures to combat the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.

Effective immediately, Gov. Brown is mandating that indoor gatherings, such as dinner parties, be limited to a maximum of 10 people. This mandate does not apply to places such as restaurants and churches. Gov. Brown gave an analogy of how personal choices are leading to chains of cases in social circles.

“We are here today to sound the alarm,” Brown said. “The COVID-19 disease is spreading rapidly across the state of Oregon. Each and every one of us needs to take action — immediate action — to slow the spread.”

Effective Wednesday, July 15, Gov. Brown is expanding the statewide mask mandate to include the outdoors when Oregonians are around others outside of their immediate household and when social distancing cannot be achieved.

Good. Think about this too. If police try to enforce these draconian laws, it will only feed into the whole BLM narrative. Law enforcement should ignore unconstitutional laws and tell commie Kate to shove it.

Or more precisely.

False dilemma

A false dilemma (or sometimes called false dichotomy) is a type of informal fallacy, more specifically one of the correlative-based fallacies, in which a statement falsely claims an "either/or" situation, when in fact there is at least one additional logically valid option.[1]

The false dilemma fallacy can also arise simply by accidental omission of additional options rather than by deliberate deception. For example, "Stacey spoke out against socialism, therefore she must be a fascist" (she may be neither socialist nor fascist or a socialist who disagrees with portions of socialism). "Roger opposed an atheistic argument against Christianity, so he must be a Christian" (When it's assumed the opposition by itself means he's a Christian). Roger might be an atheist who disagrees with the logic of some particular argument against Christianity. Additionally, it can be the result of habitual tendency, whatever the cause, to view the world with limited sets of options.

Some philosophers and scholars believe that "unless a distinction can be made rigorous and precise it isn't really a distinction".[2] An exception is analytic philosopher John Searle, who called it an incorrect assumption that produces false dichotomies. Searle insists that "it is a condition of the adequacy of a precise theory of an indeterminate phenomenon that it should precisely characterize that phenomenon as indeterminate; and a distinction is no less a distinction for allowing for a family of related, marginal, diverging cases."[3] Similarly, when two options are presented, they often are, although not always, two extreme points on some spectrum of possibilities; this may lend credence to the larger argument by giving the impression that the options are mutually exclusive, even though they need not be.[4] Furthermore, the options in false dichotomies typically are presented as being collectively exhaustive, in which case the fallacy may be overcome, or at least weakened, by considering other possibilities, or perhaps by considering a whole spectrum of possibilities, as in fuzzy logic.[5] This issue arises from real dichotomies in nature, the most prevalent example is the occurrence of an event. It either happened or it did not happen. This ontology sets a logical construct that cannot be reasonably applied to epistemology.

False dilemma refers to misuse of the xor or nand operators. For misuse of the and operator, see False conjunction.
