Can't remember to sauce this, but one economist I watched recently was talking about how it would take 5+ years to move all manufacturing and supply lines, and ports, from China to USA. Most of the major ports are in east Asia, especially China.

And that's IF we had the money to do it, which we don't - not gummint or private.

We'll all be junkyard dogs soon.

Clearly, we've got to shorten our supply lines. Bring it mostly home.

But it's going to take years. And I'm not sure China is going to make it, with all the natural disasters and the rest they're dealing with.

But our infrastructure is lousy. And we don't have enough qualified high-techers to do the work either. Higher education has a long way to go for that.

I go for simplifying life. Use less. Get by on self-sufficiency. This next year…
