Maybe you are talking about covid and I'd have to research the vent story some more. Originally I heard there were problems but it was to do with usage, and I could never tell what were the true facts. POTUS has talked about plague but I think in the general term of infections caused by contagious diseases in general rather than an infection caused by the bacteria described below..
This pneumonic plague is caused by a bacterium named Yersinia pestis, so not a virus.
They are actually present in many parts of the world including the four corners area of the US,. The most common form of infection is bubonic plague, where ppl are bitten by fleas that are infected after biting an infected mammal like a prairie dog, and infection in these cases is only spread via the fleas.
It is probably a good idea to keep an eye open for other types of infectious diseases reported but it is also possible that the reports are exaggerated and another attempt to scare ppl/increase the stress level so IMO no need to worry about plague at this point.
