Court spares Apple from €13 billion in Irish back taxes
"European Union judges have struck down a Brussels ruling ordering Apple to return more than €13 billion in back taxes to Ireland.
The judgment annulling the European Commission’s decision is a blow to Margrethe Vestager, the competition commissioner.
In 2016 she ruled that Ireland must demand payment of corporate taxes stretching back to 2006 after ruling that Irish tax breaks for Apple were an illegal subsidy."
