Doesn't require any special code, just a standard web browser. If you want to install their MegaSync tool it's a nice add-on to manage downloads/uploads in the background.

That would be the correct inference.

 

Either twitter is lying, or if you take the reports at face value (I do) it means that their credential database has been breached so they can no longer guarantee that a "blue check mark" tweet is authentically from the person it's supposed to be from. That could mean that all the personal info used to authenticate those blue checkmark accounts is now in the hands of hackers.

Stuff like driver's license photos, phone numbers, proof of identity.
