I am not an electrical engineerfag. However, I am pretty mechanically inclined, and when I think about things, I use instances of things I am familiar with.

 

In this case, the first thing that pops into my mind is a starter on a car, or any electrical motor. In my mind what you're describing here would be a stall, the fields and armature would melt.

 

I view "current" or electrical energy just like I do water. Yes it has different properties, but once a charge has been created it must go and return, somewhere. This doesnt mean that certain current at certain cycles couldnt do something unseen, but it still has to go somewhere. In my analogy, the charge would have to flow to the weakest link until it melts then dissipates into the "air" or ether

 

Or I could be misunderstanding you entirely
