One of the most prevalent viruses on the planet. There are hundreds of varieties. Can cause serious health problems for some people (e.g., shingles causes tremendous long-term pain in main older people, even leading to suicide). I always found it interesting that the word "herpes" derives from "herpetic" meaning "serpent / snake". A virus made by satan to be sure (maybe they all are). Ancient lore is the word was coined by Plato to describe the "creeping nature" of the infection as it spread across a patient's skin, but seems like it might be more connected to "snake" symbolism to me. What did the ancients know about this family of viruses? Cures soon for all these evils.
