Go to ARRL.org

(American Radio Relay League, the association of ham operators in the US).

Look for resources

You don't need in-person classes

There are some fabulous classes and study tools online

Just search for them

"How to study for my technician license" or similar query

Basically all you have to do is study the question pool and understand the topics, until you can pass a sample exam.

Start out with a Technician (entry level) ham license.

Anybody can memorize all the questions for the Tech license.

If you like books, there are lots of helpful books you can buy or download.

The ARRL site will have some.

Use web search to find others.

There are a lot of hams on the web and forums for hams, that will answer your questions and help you get going.
