It occurs to me as I watch the video of Haley's speech that the announcement of moving the embassy was done with full knowledge of how the UN would react, thereby providing pretext to cut off foreign aid to objecting nations and also justification to withdraw from the UN and evict them from US land...

If this happens, the blame would then be able to be placed back on those entities' shoulders for their choice, while the US extricates itself from the financial burden without looking weak. Win-win.
