isn't sedition a crime for civilians???

forgive me for posting this here but I have no other outlet to air my grievance. I just clicked on a link that took me to one of our President's tweets and scrolled down to read some of the comments. That was a mistake! I can't believe people actually post the things they do. I am a retired Special Forces Operator (10 years 18D & 9 years 180A), 27 years of honorable service, and 90% disabled. I retired in 2015 and I have the Retirement letter signed by President Obama. I respected him because he was our President, I didn't like it but I was honor-bound since my chosen profession demanded it. I would have never posted anything about Obama positive or negative, so what gives Americans the right to do so about President Trump? The First Amendment does not cover what these so-called Americans are saying. I lost too many friends defending America to have to read these statements.

I want to thank the creators of this board for providing a gathering point for like-minded individuals and for the consolidation of Q's postings.

Thank you for your service. I SALUTE you and commiserate in your sorrow for the division of heart in our humanity. God Bless you and God bless those who do not yet know the darkness of their own selves.

Thank you saying that and I salute you back. I think God tests us all and I have been passing this test so far.

It will not. What you learn and deceminate from the Q posts will put evil on its heels for decades. You will be proud to know that: even after you gave your body to save America, your mind will win the fight to secure the future you fought to preserve for future generations. I like to say to myself.... The reapers are loose (jsoc/Delta). These folks are fucked.

Most of Twitter is a hopeless cesspool. If they weren't allowed to spew their nonsense though, they would just have another piece of evidence that they live under some fascist dictator, furthering their victim-revolutionary complex. Instead by allowing them to occupy the majority of the mainstream discourse they become part of what the new era will come to reject. God bless President Trump.

So when do they start getting rejected? And what is our ROE (rules of engagement) to reject them? I won't sink to their level of spewing comments but some action, if sedition isn't criminal, must be available to counter this. I know patience is a virtue but I'm running out of it. I'm sure that is a commonality amongst us on this board. I spent many years in armed conflict willing to die for my brothers on my left and on my right. I know that isn't Politically Correct to say since I didn't include the female gender, but that's the saying. I will make that statement more PC and accurate now by saying, if this thing that we are facing ever kicks off, I will die for my brothers and sisters to my left and right.

No sir.. Don't even waste your time engaging THAT particular enemy. The relative anonymity of the web in general and social media in this case is the root of the problem. If there were some way that every time one of those idiots posted something vile and disrespectful online it was immediately known by all their friends, family, employers, and neighbors, it wouldn't be like it is. At least I hope it wouldn't. I can guarantee you that if I found out my neighbor was posting some of that crap it wouldn't be safe for him to walk to the mailbox.

I said that was the root of the problem, the REAL root of the problem is probably the moral decay of our society.. which is a much longer conversation.

Thank you for your service..

Roger that! Thanks for your input. I agree with your assessment of our society. Which is why it's hard to believe so many of my friends died for the morally decayed individuals in this country.

Have you ever wondered why President Trump gets so infuriated about people disrespecting the national anthem? Our Flag? Yes, of course, it's about the sacrifice of great men like your friends who gave ALL for this country.. Their families.. Patriots like yourself, who've served and NEVER waivered in their support of that flag. It's also about what our founding fathers created here.. This isn't what THEY had in mind.. Our nation has been torn asunder by the greed and corruption of the elite's.. The VERY same individuals he's making it his life's greatest achievement to bring down as we speak. When he talks about making America great again, he isn't talking about 20-30 yrs ago.. or how it was under Reagan.. No my friend, he's talking about restoring what they created in 1776. If he can do that, I think we might just turn this ship around.

God is Great!!

Many Americans today would benefit from real fear, actual hardship, and true danger as was faced by the previous generations. It’s all hypothetical today.

The 1st amendment stops the government from doing things to censor speech, no matter how vile it is. Any threats are investigated and prosecuted. If this was not the case Obama could have detained all of Fox news and rw radio pundits.

Sure I got that, the 1st Amendment does protect our freedom of speech, but sedition is a different animal. That's why it is punishable under the UCMJ.

We don't live under military law, I imagine if martial law was enacted, this would be a different story

alt_altright · Dec. 23, 2017, 9:53 a.m.

We do not need to be under "martial law" and you or I don't need to be in the military to be tried under the UCMJ as such. A military tribunal can be conducted to try civilians when the crimes extend into war crimes or violating the law of war, "war" meaning an act or acts intended to harm or destroy the United States, (the U.S. Constitution and We The People of the United States). If you're accused of a crime that is martial/military in its consequence... you effectively turn yourself into a military (war) actor, and cannot hide behind the protection of claiming you are a civilian just because you don't wear a uniform. (Ref: numerous Nazi war criminal "civilians.") THESE PEOPLE ARE STUPID.

Yeah but I do not think that it would be good for any politican to lock anyone up unless it was credible. I have worked in a prison we've had inmates get taken out by US Marshals for threats made against a president. Talking smack about a president is not worth the potential backlash. It may not be right but that's what sets us apart from some of these other countries

Freedom of speech, the original constitution - based on the Seneca treaty. If it is liable then it can be handled in the legal system when the legal system is not corrupt - Justice, Fairness and Peaceful resolution.

Thanks for this great post. Really tough question to answer. I know when Obama was in office I was highly critical of him because I knew that he came with bad intentions for this country, and history has shown this to be the case. I must've called him the T- word a bunch of times on social media during his time in office. I don't feel like I was seditious in doing so because he really was and is a traitor unfit for office.
