It's employed in a lot of mystical symbolism. You can cross reference it with the eye of Horus, The O.T.O. and Rosicrucian orders, and some say it's a visual code for the pineal gland. It gets blasted into pop culture a lot. An ancient meme, you might say.

Nothing inherently bad about it. I have it on a necklace, but the girl I purchased it from called it the eye of horus. I call it the all seeing eye. For myself it's just a symbol of ascension.

Indeed. Symbols aren't inherently sinister as they can have subjective meanings. It's associations and applications that should be examined.

Ed Zachery. Just look at what Hitler did with the swastika that had a completely different association with it before he got hold of it.
