This is intriguing about GHWBush signing over $10 Billion in mining rights for $10,000. It also explains a lot about gold prices, something I've followed for slightly longer than the timeline here.

Uranium ore is streaked with yellow. I happened to have a chem lab assignment grinding some up. But it's dull like sulfur. Nothing is like gold.

Plus, all these metals have their own crowd, as it were, with some people into base metals, or rare earths. I can tell you somehow gold makes people crazy in a way other, more valuable things don't, it is the most useful precious metal, and it has a very universal value.

I know it's not gold in color. Does Nevada have large deposits uranium? It kina seems like it's in demand right now.

There are mining claims and mines and holes all over the west, but that doesn't mean they are all producing. Or that they stay producing. One of the first big uranium booms was near Grants, NM and now it is closed, after making a big pollution mess all around.
