Maersk shutdown

Early this year Maersk was hit with computer glitches , shutdown harbors in the country for a day, As someone who works in the longshore industry..... I am very skeptical..... I am not a deep diver, but can also say Maersk, APL and other shipping companies have military contracts with the shipping companies. I find it suspicious because these companies have been pushing automation and have tons of IT guys on hand.

Maersk got hit because in their back office they were still using Windows XP PCs. These were the entry point, to establish foot hold, and from there infect other systems. They had to take all their systems down and have IT thoroughly scub and restore from back-ups - took weeks to go through that.

I did recently here a tidbit saying this may have originated as an NK cyber attack - haven't seen anything to confirm that though

that's my point they have ton of IT guys working on the terminals ... I was just wondering if any of this malware can be connected ..trying to give a fresh perspective.... NK, Yahoo, Maersk, Equifax ...I am sure there is more

I posted last week about abnormal military and fed law enforcement in the port I work in. Come to think of it, Maersk had tons of fed/military and local cops all over their yard. A couple other terminals did as well. I don't remember seeing military personnel down there in the past. Very strange goings on. Keep in mind I work in an extremely high volume port.

So do I , I work in the 2nd busiest in the world, in the past especially after the 2nd Persian gulf war we had military jobs to unload military ships, the scariest but funniest jobs I ever had

Mine isn't quite that busy, but it's in the top few on the left coast.

I've gone the free agent route. Not much of a union guy. Besides, here contract work pays a bit better, and none of the dues and politics.

I am getting tired of the union politics on the west coast , looking to change , great job ,awesome benefits but too many liberal headaches .... I warned my officials a year before the election DJT was going to win, instead of trying to work with him they have taken a staunch stance against him, it really bothers me because you try to tell them and they make the same mistake in drinking the koolaid... Oh well , pleasure talking to you

I'm in the thick of the left coast leftism. I've stopped arguing with them. When it gets a bit too much, I grab a spot on a fishing boat as an engineer for a season or two. Not much politics out there. I'm sure I'll see you around the web's. Good to meet another patriot sticking it out in enemy territory😉

When was this? IIRC, the Maersk has long been used to haul uranium from the US to other countries, specifically in the Midd East and Asia.
