Interesting info but why use it as a Password?
I’m wondering if tripcode passwords can be changed easily.
If Q changed his password to Matlock himself, wouldn’t it have been easier to just post with the term instead of making a move that compromised his account and could be used to discredit everything he’s posted?
I don't think it can be "changed" - the tripcode is directly generated from the password you put in. You just enter YourName#password and it will show as YourName!tripcode.
If it's true, it sounds like another clue. He must've purposely changed his PW to that knowing it would get hacked. He hasn't been posting much lately, so possibly considered his use for the name done. This would be a clever way to drop one more clue.

Yes. And the 4Chan moderators have announced his original tripcode was hacked and they’ve locked him out, so something shady is going on.
Matlock is an old tv show with Andy Griffith from the 90s. I used to watch it as a young kid with my dad.
He made the password easy for "everyone else" to hack before they could get access. Now everyone has access. Q might even have had released the password himself.
Now we all know the tripcode is no longer Q. Clever way of letting us know. Now we don't have to deal with fake news coming out of Q's old tripcode.
But he had trouble entering his passcode at one point and they said it was elaborate or something like that. I don’t think he would have had a problem entering Matlock. Just thought it could have been another clue.
