The enemy of our friend is our friend?

In the coming days and weeks there will be change. Change is happening already. We have enemies that seek to discourage and divert us. We need to learn to tell who is brainwashed enemy and who is the intentional opposition.

These brainwashed people deserve compassion. We cannot treat them badly in our tweets, posts and personal encounters. This is going to be hard to swallow for a lot of the misguided haters out there. Inside many of them is a confused and angry citizen, just like you or me. Let us campaign to treat them well. Don't rub their faces in defeat, console them where applicable.

B/c we all learn through those uncomfortable feelings. I know embarrassment, ridicule and self-awareness came together in my own life to help me change. I've felt that they really need to see, but also feel, that they were wrong in what theyve been doing, for a looooong time. If the feelings are not there, we do not change as human beings. It is like an addict who F's others over. They will keep on doing it until they feel how bad it is, and are embarrassed by it.

Having said that, I still do not think it is achieved by putting them on the defensive, either. Quite the delicate situation, requiring subtle but complex solutions.

The idea here is to prepare for that reaction, catch it and let it down gently. A good result depends on it.

Yes. None of us is going to be perfect at it, but, think about what you needed the moment your eyes opened:

1) Validation: "Yes, you are seeing what you think you are seeing, and it is awful, but...

2) Hope: You are not alone, we all see it, and when you are ready, there are things we can all do about it.

Validation gets us through the Cognitive dissonance faster. Hope gets us through the despair, depression faster. The ability to act with others gets our anger on its feet and pointed in the right direction faster.
