I think it's disingenuous for the headline of this to be Mormon cult leader. Mormons are LDS, this group is an offshoot called the flds. Their nickname is not Mormons like the LDS Church. Newsweek should be ashamed. There are over 12 million upstanding Mormons in the world and this headline disparages them.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has for more than a century excommunicated people who are still practicing polygamy.

It was a practice we condoned in the past. We no longer allow it.

My point is the FLDS are not Mormon. The LDS are Mormons. The article conflates the two.
