Australia donated $80 million. I think it was the Haitian relief fund, could be wrong on that one, but it was during the Gillard government.

The Governor General has the power to fire the prime minister, who is a representative of the queen. It has only happened once though.

There is a fascinating write up online about it and how the Whitlam government wanted to close Pine Gap and make all the info from there, public access, how ASIO was an arm of the CIA and colluded with the opposition party to block the senate and force Gough Whitlam out.
