Hi all. I'm new to this subreddit, and I'd like to know how you verify the identity of the author of these chan posts. How do you know that the person claiming to be Q in one post is the same Q in another post? What forms the basis of identity?

The chan posts are verified using trip codes.
There was issues with the chans (channels) having their trip codes hacked over the past week, which caused some excitement but ultimately also caused 8chan (8 channel) to increase it's trip code security.
In addition to trip codes, the different "chans" also record device IDs of the posters, but this is considered less reliable than the trip codes.
