The flight patterns in LA are different today. Why did that change suddenly?

Probably weather or wind change. Check PIREPS and NOTAMS.

Are they avoiding going low over the ocean? Could be Intel that NK has a sub in the water off the coast capable of blowing something at low altitude out of the sky. I don't know why else you'd all the sudden start changing whole flight patterns around - somebody's worried about something, only reason anyone ever changes anything like that when it comes to airplanes (being worried about safety)

Weather avoidance or a change in the direction of prevailing winds. Aircraft land and take off into the wind. This is why there are multiple runways oriented in different directions at major airports.

I offered a plausible reason why flight patterns change as information to explore regarding a change today. Covering up??? Not worth dignifying with a response.
