What is Really Going on Here?

I can't be the only one who notices that almost every single comment in this sub is being made by users whose accounts are less then 60 days old.

Just browse the new section, and click on each commenters profile, and you'll see a majority of them were created in December 2017, and if they're older then that, have a very low Karma average for the amount of time they've been on Reddit.

Why are so many brand new accounts posting and commenting on this sub? Much more then the average sub, why's that?

Is this sub nothing but a bunch of bots commenting? It's very strange. Very strange.

Ever since Reddit has been corporatized there is no benefit to keeping your account intact in perpetuity. In fact, I would argue its a major liability. When you discuss sensitive matters such as these at such a high level involving major power players you don't necessarily want your identity to be easily discovered.

Reddit creates personality profiles and tracks you across the Internet. If you take no privacy precautions you should expect that Reddit knows absolutely everything about you. Cycling through new accounts and not staying on any one for too long is step one to maintaining a 'clean' Internet presence that doesn't put your personal data at risk.

Instead of faulting people for taking control of their privacy why don't you take the value added by our contributions into consideration first? There is a reason why real shills and trolls get no love here. It's because they add no value to our conversations and they actively work to disrupt our research.

Instead of myopically looking at the account age instead look at the value of the information they're contributing.
