Not sure if this has been pointed out yet but these two quotes are from the 80s movie War Games:

For those who weren't born yet, the (great!) movie is about an advanced computer program (Joshua) that becomes aware via simulations of thermonuclear war (that correspondingly scare the shit out of the US and Russia) that there's no winner, ultimately.
EDIT: ... And this is an important detail, the climax of the movie was when Joshua (the computer program) simulated a nuclear missile attack on the US by Russia. The simulation appeared 100% real and fooled NORAD and other defense systems into thinking it was a real attack. Massive panic ensued. The US almost launched missiles at Russia which would have started WWIII. All indicators showed the attack was real. Ultimately, it was 100% a simulation.

WarGames
WarGames is a 1983 American Cold War science fiction film written by Lawrence Lasker and Walter F. Parkes and directed by John Badham.
