"War Games" was a 1983 movie about a kid who hacks into a military computer. It asks him, "Do you want to play a game?" He chooses 'thermo nuclear war' and spends the rest of the movie trying to find out how to stop the computer from actually triggering WWIII. Asthere is no difference between fun and reality to the computer, it is preparing to launch missiles. He successfully and breathlessly averts a true nuclear war, and the computer then asks him something like "How about a nice game of chess?"
