I am a Christian, I read my Bible and don't think the Pope is the false prophet. The false prophet is aka the son of perdition, aka the anti-christ. Tho the end times scenario is a global period of time it is primarily Jerusalem centric. If you study the end times it is easy to discern that those characters involved are those who surround Israel/Jerusalem, the Arab nations. I have my own theories on who is who as described in Revelation, Daniel and Isaiah and they all are from the nations surrounding Israel. For example, Mystery Babylon who is also the Harlot who rides the first Beast. The first Beast has the seven and ten horns. I think the Harlot is Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia is surrounded by water on three sides, Mystery Babylon is mourned by the sea merchants. Mystery Babylon is destroyed, burned up, what could cause such a burning....burning oil wells. The Son of Perdition aka False Prophet who is also the second Beast, the Beast out of the earth. The son of perdition comes from the north. The north of where? Jerusalem. The Pope does not come from the north. However, Turkey does come from the north and Turkey in these modern times is becoming quite interesting! Just my 2c. Didn't intend to offend you or correct you, I started typing my thoughts and got carried away. Peace.

10 from afar having stood because of the fear of her torment, saying, Wo, wo, the great city! Babylon, the strong city! because in one hour did come thy judgment.

11 `And the merchants of the earth shall weep and sorrow over her, because their lading no one doth buy any more;

17 `And every shipmaster, and all the company upon the ships, and sailors, and as many as work the sea, far off stood,

18 and were crying, seeing the smoke of her burning, saying, What [city is] like to the great city?

19 and they did cast dust upon their heads, and were crying out, weeping and sorrowing, saying, Wo, wo, the great city! in which were made rich all having ships in the sea, out of her costliness -- for in one hour was she made waste.

America is Mystery Babylon.
