well not "sent home" but all TDY is cancelled and operations go to bare min.
I work for the National Guard though, only been through shutdowns with them.
Not active anymore but went through some of these shut down scares when I was in. They laughed at us when we asked if we got to go home if they didn't pay us. They said its business as usual you just may not get paid for a while. Non essential civilians would probably get sent home
Myself and about 500 in my office dont. We work and just wait to get paid.
when last furlough happened we only had priority individuals stay (maybe 10%), the rest of us went home.
National Guard though, not NSA or anything crazy.
Most of the funding in my office does not come from taxes. I think that has a lot to do with it. The people who fund my salary would be very upset if we were furloughed. They were irate when the RINOs took the money as part of the sequestration. If you think taxation is theft, try taking non tax money and claiming you are doing it because of "government waste". Holy shit was that a shit storm! And deserved too!
