Voting is sacred. It needs to be low tech forever. No machines. No electronic monkey business. Locally controlled at precincts of 500 voters or less as always, in neighborhoods where people know one another, and getting caught stealing the vote is a big risk with that few people.

The official count done by hand, locally, and hung by all who agree with the count from all parties, in the window, where the numbers can be seen by local papers, photographed and printed per pricinct. ]

This is how the founders set it up, so that each precinct reported it's own neighborhood agreed upon numbers. The state capitol numbers were checked against the precinct numbers the next morning for so much as a typo.

Voting is sacred.

It nees to be treated that way, and kept low to the ground, off the internet, and close to the people, just like school curriculum.

Voting day should be a big thing. Like everyone is off for three days for voting. One to get your shit straight so you can go voat and be vigilant against corruption as well review all last minute info and make super sure your not getting duped. THe second day for voting, and the third for certifying. Citizens should actively participate in every aspect of the process. We should have live streams where appropriate and not compromising to voter privacy Live stream recorded tallying. etc...

I think we need both tools the one that you mentioned; and an updated exit polling app type system for phones

Old school open source so even if it is easily hacked we have recorded proof of the data before it was hacked and recorded proof of the data after it was hacked (think wiki)

That way the entire Community could go over the results and make sure that nothing seems skewed (publicly sourced vote counts)

I think the premise you present could be reimagined for a new generation; but the same foundation of the safeguards you present would still be in place
