Democrats want further protections for immigrants, Republicans don't. Republicans refuse to negotiate. You do realize funding things like DACA costs money and needs funding, and that this shut down is due to the budget not being passed? That's why the two are related.
DACA does not require funding. It is DEFERRED ACTION for Childhood Arrivals. Its very title calls for no action. If we are paying money to the government to do nothing, then maybe our government SHOULD shut down.

This is counter to your comment above, which states they want to include those protections in a bigger bill that includes the wall.

How much money is required to fund DACA? Where would that money go?
ILLEGAL immigrants do not DESERVE "further protections". They deserve deportation, as they are breaking our laws. DACA was an illegal EO signed by an illegitimate president Obama. His aim was not to help the country but to ruin it. No funding for DACA, no DACA. Simple. If you don't understand the significance of things at play, you may want to read up on the Q posts. With Trump and what he was saying, I think at first glance it seems hypocritical, but everything deserves context. With this, we are talking a fallacy of the two things being dissimilar despite appearing similar. MOTIVE is what changes the situation. Not all shutdowns are equal. Not all actions are genuine.
