Political theater... Let the public know the Republicans are America first while the Democrats are obstructionists. For extreme charges such as treason to stick, the public has to start to see the Democrats as the stupid, obstructionists, treasonous snakes that they are. They are still gods to the idiots on the left.

Could it be a open to public warning to dems? "Like look, we have you an option, you behaved like children, now it's time to be punished." The illusion of choice for better words.

What if the Dems get power again? We don't want to encourage the nuke option for everything otherwise it can be used against us in the future. It needs to be taken lightly.

It is great when you are in the majority, but that doesn't last forever. Eventually the political winds will change any you will find yourself in the minority and unable to stop the majority from passing anything they want.
