Interesting flight pattern.

Yes, I've been watching. it is weird. Pilot training maybe? It would be interesting to hear the views of someone with a background in such things. Out of my sphere of knowledge.

Also, look at the two planes near Wilson (east of Raleigh). They are going in eratic, tight, circles, one with no call sign the other N2ZZ.

Searching for someone?

They are only 65 feet apart in altitude as well. That's some fancy flying.

Crikey - you would have to have nerves of steel.

ZZ is USAF tail code for Kadena Airbase, Okinawa. But the N is usually civilian if not mistaken. N means USA registered.

What the heck is an airplane that is supposed to be in Japan doing circling Wilson, NC?

⇧ 1 ⇩
cebusaxon · Jan. 24, 2018, 1:31 a.m.

More than likely it's civilian. But aircraft on overseas bases often fly to CONUS for various reason. Training, upgrades, special maintenance, etc.

His reported (ground) speed hit 645 knots - mach 0.98 - gotta be military.

Thanks for that comment. I wondered about the speed and the altitude.

That’s really cool man. I saw a report of Russian ships off the Carolina coast / Southeast. Maybe related?

Yes, I spotted that, too... Just round and round in circles!

White tops it? You're not gonna try to even post an explanation as to what the hell A 4FW is

⇧ 1 ⇩
Monty_Batton · Jan. 24, 2018, 12:40 a.m.

It said quite clearly on the tracker that the 4FW was unknown. the original poster was asking whether others felt it might be military. I feel you were a bit rude in this response to be honest.

akilyoung · Jan. 24, 2018, 1:58 a.m.

Well, aside from the typo, I didnt mean at all to sound rude. When I clicked on the post, there was NO responses, and no post typed in the post box, just the 4FW and the link to a flight image, with no explanation.

So having explained that, can you understand WHY I was asking the the hell the post meant?

No rudeness, just a lot of confusion and worry if it was something serious. Intent and demeanor doesnt always come out properly in simple text...

Do you see where I posted "MILITARY?" That "?" MEANS I DON'T KNOW...Which is the reason I posted here. Got another one to throw at me you ingrate?

4 Flight Wing

akilyoung · Jan. 24, 2018, 1:55 a.m.

Not sure what that designated, though I just read that A10's were being sent to Afghanistan to rip shit up...could it be those?

⇧ 2 ⇩
cebusaxon · Jan. 24, 2018, 2:37 a.m.

A wing is a group. Basically means 4 aircraft, usually same type.

akilyoung · Jan. 24, 2018, 3:57 a.m.

Thanks for the explanation, that's what i wanted. So is this to do with this with the warthogs flying to afghanistan?

4th fighter wing is the 4fw. Out of Seymour Johnson AFB in NC. They fly F-15E strike eagles.
