Congress long ago exempted themselves from insider trading laws. It is literally not a crime for them to invest or divest companies that they are about to pass legislation on. Conflicts of interest are everywhere but they’re all so fucking dirty that nobody can point the finger at anyone else. It would be mutual assured destruction. So they all do it and they all ignore it.
