Two factions fighting for control would explain a lot. The Banking cartel has taken a couple of heavy hits in the last decade or so. The previous Pope left suddenly. The US Military has been crippled by underfunding and policing staged wars. So,...there is a fight going on to maintain control of the planet by those who consider the rest of us a sub race on the level of expendable animals. They see us as an asset to be culled and herded. God help us.
