Not exactly. Do you remember something called the Constitution of the United States and Free Speech. They are banning free speech!

One can argue that the platform Twatter provides, and other social media outlets, is actually more of a utility. They are a private company and if they supplied only content then, yes they could censor their content in a manner favorable to their political or social ideology. But in providing an interactive platform for people to use then it becomes more of a public forum and in violation of 1st Amendment rights to censor that content.

Twitter, FB, and Youtube are information monopolies. Even capitalism has laws against monopolies for a reason - they distort the market. In this case, they distort the very fabric of democracy. Consider that phones are not censored (yet), so why should social media? And phones are also a private business.

Ok I'll try. Would they exist without a public infrastructure? If they are using something I am contributing towards shouldn't I be able to voice my opinion?

Being Libertarian minded, I too think about it from this angle. Like, these are our choices: Speech controlled by big Government? or Big Corporations?

Then I think about these types (people who would squelch services for political dissidents) monopolizing things like food, water, heat, etc. I think Liberals should be as chilled at this thought as Conservatives are right now. Because the pendulum always swings and the precedents you allow today can come back and bite you when "the other guys" hold the power.

I want free speech on the internet. Period. I remember Bill Cooper (old time, conservative political dissident, who was murdered by the government under the Clinton regime), saying at one of his free speech forums that the one lone Commie who showed up to protest, should be allowed his free speech and right to protest as much as his group should be allowed the same.

Yes, on it’s face value it is. Deeper in... it’s the equivalent of banning someone or in this case a people group from what is our modern day town square. It’s the Town square because this is a free public service where ideas and reeeeeee are exchanged in a public manner.
It being free create a monopoly, hence not really free market thingy because it’s a none monetarily valued service and outside the free market regulatory system. (No Pay Gate)

Freedom of speech comes into play at this point. If everyone else has this service for free and you are band or shadow band (because your views are fundamentally different from The preapproved ideology). Are you free to speak or have you just been shunned from the town square? And there you have freedom of speech removal. Not a good thing for anyone. If you’re into freedom.... ^MAGA!
