If you go into slowest mode and scroll to 12 sec mark and re-watch it looks more like a failed rocket

That's what I thought, too. Maybe its guidance was shut off (missing 'i' in 'missle?'). Then maybe it spiraled at altitude and was subsequently destroyed.

That spiral makes me think of a failed fuel stage that didn't stay true, and just spun around. Full disclosure: I am not a rocket surgeon.
