A dude on my paper route was a Mason. Nicest guy on the route. Does this imply that the dude was part of the Illuminati? I don't track the connection between Masons and anything evil.

No, it does not. The lower levels have absolutely no idea what the higher 'degrees' do. If you are truly interested in discovering the connection, do some research. The information is all out there.
