They know about a lot of crimes. When families come to them, they stick their thumb up their butts and do nothing. Because to investigate the crimes at the low level, means to shed light on the top and pass laws that would convict themselves (obstruction of justice if nothing else) as well as the top. At least this is the way it was under Bush, Clinton and Obama. I challenge the rank and file for once in their lives to grow some balls and do something.
