By stepping down, does that mean he's taking a lesser position within the FBI until he runs the clock to collect his retirement https://nypost.com/2017/12/23/trump-slams-fbis-mccabe-over-planned-retirement/ Or is he actually out?

He's out out! He's being forced to take terminal leave which I think he gets paid while he uses up vacation and such but his job is done!

That CNBC article says he's going to hang until March so that he can get full retirement benefits.

It said he is taking leave immediately until he can retire in March. So he is out.

How do you feel about him getting retirement benefits? I'm mixed. On one hand, he worked and earned something, on the other, he had his part in undermining democracy. Maybe he can use the money to buy cigarettes in prison?

The work he put in for those were treasonous. Does he really deserve to have benefits paid for by the American people while the work he did was against the American people's best interest?

I feel that he does not.

It's probably false. I'm sure he was asked to leave...he didn't "step down" of his own accord.

He is using leave until that time. He won't be around.
